MORE ABOUT MY AIMS

We have all made mistakes in our lives, I am not a professional counsellor but I would like to share some of the key moments in my life, to help others get the help they need before they have a knock on the door.

There is no right or wrong way to navigate this site. You can read it in any order or you can go straight to the links to find courses to help you. Both stopitnow and lucyfaithfull provide  anonymous support for offenders, potential offenders and offender's families and friends.

When I have told people about my past, a lot of people have struggled to understand how a good friendly person can commit such crimes.

Some have ended up not speaking to me and others have created like a Jeckyll and Hyde character for me, so they can carry on a friendship and others have accepted me for who I am.

When I did some online courses with other offenders and counsellors, a lot of us were surprised how normal we all looked. Public perceptions of sexual offenders are that they are like monsters because it is easier for civilisation to deal with them as it is a very difficult thing to do. We tend to hear of the worst offenders in the press but according to some statistics about 1 in 20 people suffer from abuse in their childhood.

If your thoughts and beliefs are sound then, you will be able to see the differences between good and bad as simple.

Unfortunately there are far too many people who have suffered abusive relationships and they have to deal with their own experiences and emotions and the line between good and bad can be a bit blurry. 

When dealing with safe guarding issues, you have to be open minded about who the offenders could be and where the risks lie. Everybody should be aware of safeguarding issues when it comes to vulnerable people and children, It is better for lots of people to be more aware of their surroundings and to challenge situations when they have doubts.

 I feel it is important to open safe ways for people to talk about their problematic thoughts and emotions before they go onto harming another innocent person. In my ideal world, people would be able to accept/forgive those who commit crimes and support them back into a safer society for the offenders and the victims ( I am also realistic and realise that some people need more support, such as custodial sentences)

If it were safe to have a list of offenders in the local area, the whole community could be aware of where the risks lie but unfortunately, some people would want to attack the people on the list because as I have said before the crime is to personal.

If the lists worked well and nobody was in danger of physical risk, this would be a very big deterrent to potential offenders.

This is my first attempt of a web page, I can't promise to change anything but I will listen. I appreciate comments on the layout and any feedback that you have found useful or not so useful.

I will be adding more pages with regards to my life now or during  the period of limbo between the investigation and the sentencing and also about my plans for a future life on the sex offenders register.
